Episode 1: "Ceremony" is a live-action commercial released as the first part of the "Fear You Can't Forget" campaign for Resident Evil 5. The script was written by Capcom's Japanese team, as confirmed by former Capcom USA Vice President Christian Svensson, though how much was changed in localisation is not known.[1] The film short premiered on the official website to the game in December 2008, accessed by hovering a candle on the number "1". After 100,000 views, the subsequent episode was released.[2]

Plot[]

Following the Kijuju Autonomous Zone Incident, the BSAA holds a press event which includes the presentation of a medal to Chris Redfield. During his acceptance speech, Chris begins to see "KIJUJU" written all over his script and becomes weak, having not gotten over the trauma of Kijuju. Recognising this the officer presenting the award calls an early end to the event.

Transcript[]

Speaker: "There's more to being a hero than saving lives."
"Sometimes-"

Chris Redfield (soliloquy): "It's amazing how far you can get in life by destroying the lives of others."

Speaker: "-Agent Redfield saw the worst of what mankind is capable of. In turn he exulted the best - bravery, sacrifice, valour. It is a great honour that I now present this medal to Christopher Redfield with the gratitude of the nation and the world."

Chris: "Thank you. It is indeed an honour to accept this award. I would not be here - I would not be here if it were not -

Speaker: "It appears Chris is --- I would like to thank you so much for attending. Thank you and good night."
