— Inventory description

"Derelict House Footage" (ビデオテープ「廃屋取材」 Bideotēpu `haioku shuzai'?) is an item in the Resident Evil 7 Teaser Demo: Beginning Hour and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

Purpose[]

The "Derelict House Footage" is meant to be used on the VHS player in the living room. The footage is meant to reveal where the switch is to access the hidden room is located. Watching the entire tape will cause the Back Door Key to spawn, the Fuse to despawn, and the Creepy note to change and appear in next to the TV.

Depending on the player's action, they can cause the drawer in the kitchen to be unlocked giving access to the Axe.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard[]

The footage is meant to reveal where the switch is to access the hidden room to allow the player to progress through the game.

There is also an antique coin that can be obtained by unlocking the same drawer that contains the axe in the Beginning Hour demo. However, the lockpick location has changed from inside the kitchen to on the ground directly behind the player as soon as they gain control. Once the drawer is unlocked within the footage, Ethan can grab the coin.
