The Bulletproof Anti-personnel Gear (or A-gears in short) are a new enemy type that the player will encounter in The Ghost Survivors mode.

Information[]

A-Gears are among NEST's Umbrella Security Service personnel who have been infected with the t-Virus and transformed into Zombie's. Immediately after William Birkin released the T-Virus into the sewers following the failed NESTWRECKER Operation on September 23rd, all U.S.S. personnel assigned to NEST were ordered for riot control within the facility and utilized A-gear during the panic. Umbrella then ordered their remaining living members of their HQ special forces members to eliminate the panicked Umbrella scientists, including Wayne Li and the entire crowd inside the NEST Cafeteria and Nap rooms. Very likely because NEST was within airborne radius of the leaked T-virus. All staff trapped within NEST soon succumbed to the virus, following all of Raccoon City one week later after the rats spread it.

A-gears wear bulletproof armor; fortunately, their armor is generally not complete, allowing the player to damage or dismember their exposed body parts. Although their armored sections cannot be damaged, they can still be staggered by powerful shots from weapons such as the Magnum.

Their armor provides no protection against explosives or area effect weapons, so a Hand Grenade or GM 79 can dispose of them quickly. This is the only way to eliminate A-gears wearing a full set of armor, otherwise the player will have no choice but to evade them. Only two fully-armored A-gears appear in the game, at the very end of “Forgotten Soldier.”

In the 'No Way Out' scenario, the player can also encounter A-gears emitting poison smoke, making them very dangerous enemies in the later phases of the minigame.
