In the Outbreak series, ammunition boxes are composed of individual cartridges, instead of whole magazines like in other Resident Evil games. To reload a gun, cartridges must be manually loaded or combined with magazines.
An exception is the Assault Rifle, as its ammunition already comes in 30 round 'magazines instead of boxes. Thus reloads can be done instantly without needing to insert rounds one-by-one in the gun.
