Air Combat 1942 was a World War II film released in the United States around 1998. Numerous posters advertising the film were put up throughout Raccoon City. It starred Tommy Clooney and Carrie Gish.[1]

- The film is heavily based on the 1986 film Top Gun, with its release poster bearing a striking resemblance to that of its real life counterpart.
- The name of one of the lead actors, Tommy Clooney, is a reference to actors Tom Cruise, lead actor of Top Gun, and George Clooney. Tommy Clooney himself also physically resembles Cruise.
- The film's title is a reference to the game, 1942, which was designed by Resident Evil supervising producer Yoshiki Okamoto.
