かつてアンブレラ設立に貢献したアシュフォード家の、６代目当主、
アレクサンダー・アシュフォードの息子。
１９９３年、英国の大学を卒業し、
南極基地及びロックフォート島基地の所長に就任したアルフレッドは、
アンブレラから全権を任されるが、彼が島で行ったことといえば、
囚人の虐待や趣味のミリタリーコレクションで施設を装飾することばかりだった。
アルフレッドはもはや過去の栄光を引きずるただの独裁者でしかなく、
アンブレラにとってはお荷物のような存在となっていた。
助言者もなく、ただひたすらアシュフォード家再興を夢見る毎日は、
彼の性格破綻に拍車を掛けた。
