The ancient Spanish civilisation (tentative) was a polity which existed in Valdelobos, a mountainous region of what is now Spain.

Archaeology[]

Pit[]

The pit is a cavern deep below Salazar Castle, and was the site of complicated door lock mechanism built by the civilisation. During the 2004 USSTRATCOM raid of the castle, it was observed that a wax door was melted by two orbs in the pit. These orbs were held in the hands of two statues depicting winged humans with goat heads. The orbs could be made to shine out light by pressing two buttons next to reliefs found to depict other winged humans. Beyond the wax door was a long corridor protected by booby traps in the form of stone columns that could be made to move up and down, crushing anyone left below them.

These ruins had long been known to the Salazars, who had made use of the ruins, with one of its entrances leading up to the old castle.

Underground ruins[]

The underground ruins were located in a cave system directly beneath the cathedral, and may have been the site of a community. Much of it had deteriorated over the centuries, and by 2004 little was left, with various columns and building walls having long since collapsed.

An example of cave paintings

The islanders are known to have practiced cave art. This can be seen in a cave at Wharf B, where paintings of executions were made in a special room dedicated to it. The islanders also at some point practiced mosaic artwork. This can be seen in the Ruins. The symbol of Los Iluminados above the cave paintings suggests the religion itself is very old and was involved in this ancient culture.
