The Shaft passage (縦穴通路) is an area of the Antarctic Base.[1]
Description[]
The shaft passage is a circular walkway located several stories above a shaft, connecting an aircraft hangar intended for Cmdr. Alfred Ashford with his office without requiring outside passage. It consists of two levels separated by a ladder, and a staircase down to another corridor. Due to the plane crash, the room has been exposed to the tundral environment and is cold, though not icy.

The shaft passage is the first area explored when Claire Redfield reaches Antarctica. The player will need to keep returning to this room in order to progress, though no items are available here.
As Chris, the player will encounter two Alexia-Pods when entering this room for the first time, no other enemies will appear nor items.
