BIOHAZARD 2 TV-CM (short for "Television Commercial Message") was a short film directed in 1997 as an advertisement for Resident Evil 2, known as BIOHAZARD 2 in Japan. The film was only released on Japanese TV channels due to an unforseen and so far unexplained copyrighting problem.
Production
In order to get the right style for the film, Capcom hired American film director George A. Romero, famous for his Dead series of Zombie horror films. Among the cast was Brad Renfro as Leon S. Kennedy who received top billing in the Making Of documentary; his aspiring career would soon after fail due to drug use, ending in an overdose.
The film took place in a mock-up of the Raccoon City Police Department which, perhaps due to the time of set production, has more in common with the BIOHAZARD 1.5 version than the release version.
