BIOHAZARD CODE:Veronica VOL.18 was the eighteenth volume of a manhua series published by the Hong Konger comics publisher, Tinhangse Publishing and officially-licensed by Capcom. The name of the individual story was "The Final Battle" (最終惡鬥).
Plot
Chris rescued Claire in the Antarctic hall. As they got ready to leave, they saw Alexia Ashford looking down at them from the second floor. Claire left her brother to go check up on Steve in the Bastille. She found him forced to his seat by a giant axe. She was unable to free him and was forced to simply watch as he began to feel intense pain. When he raised his head to see her, Claire was horrified to see Steve beginning to mutate.
Steve grew several feet and easily moved the axe out of the way. Succumbing to the virus, Steve swung the axe at Claire who used her acrobatic talents to avoid each hit. Running to the other end of the room, Claire jumped up at a shutter to pull it down and protect her. A tentacle broke through the wall and wrapped around Claire as Steve broke through the bars. Swinging his axe, Steve severed the tentacle instead of Claire. The tentacle repaid this act of treachery by stabbing Steve in the stomach before leaving.
Claire comforted a dying Steve who reverted to a more human form, though sickly pale. He died in her arms while she cried.
Meanwhile, Chris hides behind a pillar in the hall as Alexia walks downstairs to the newly arrived Albert Wesker. Mutating in a fiery display to fight the former S.T.A.R.S. Captain, she throws him to the other end of the room with a Ki blast. She throws him again when Wesker tries to stand up. Chris makes his presence known, and demands Alexia tell him what happened to Steve. As she mutters an answer, Chris races upstairs to the Bastille. Discovering that Steve is on the other side of the door, she slips him a card key, hoping he can find a way to save her.
