BIOHAZARD UMBRELLA CHRONICLES Prelude to the Fall #2 is a manga published in 2007 alongside Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles.

Plot

Dr. Albert Wesker stands in the grain silo, menacing Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine and Anna. Chris accuses Wesker of being behind the t-Virus outbreak in the Caucasus. He denies involvement, however, and calls it an accident like the other outbreaks. His explanation of the village's curse is cut short when the floor collapses, Chris' explosion having rendered the building unstable. Soon, the group is approached by Hunter Deltas, which must have been stored in a chamber beneath the silo, and Wesker jumps away to leave them for Chris.

Not prepared to go up against three Hunters with handguns, the three survivors retreat back to the van so he can take out a grenade launcher. As they reflect on their experience with Wesker, they realise he is here to collect something. Anna thinks back at his "curse" remark, and remembers her father saying the same thing when giving her a pendant as a good luck charm.

Back in the village, Wesker searches through a study and tries to open a safe. Before he can, Chris and Jill burst into the room, who demand answers. Wesker concedes, and explains that Umbrella has set up warehouses for quietly storing B.O.W.s and t-Virus vaccine samples. The villagers were willing participants in Umbrella's plans, with the occupant of the very house they are in being an Umbrella employee. Wesker is here to steal this man's data, which he hopes will lead him to a laboratory complex. Anna takes out her locket and shows it to him, revealing they are in her house. Wesker takes the locket and, with applied force, extends metal teeth to form a key. As Wesker opens the safe, Chris calls Anna to run back to them, and a bomb goes off.

Chris, Jill and Anna stand outside the burning house, where Anna recollects her father instructing her to do exactly what she did as part of Umbrella's counter-intelligence procedure. Wesker walks out of the ruins the other direction, having retrieved the data disc in spite of the explosion. Another Hunter Delta races towards him, but he kills it with a swift kick to the head. He leaves the village, satisfied he has the blueprints to the laboratory he seeks. A storm makes its way into the village as day breaks. Having continued their investigation of the village, Chris and Jill have discovered that Anna's father was also an employee of the local chemical plant, and conclude it is the facade to another Umbrella laboratory complex.

The three head back to the hummer, allowing Redfield to get out a grenade launcher to kill the Hunters with. Noticing what Wesker said of the village being "cursed", Anna remembers her father describing the village as such during the outbreak before handing her a pendant to protect her from evil.

He explains that the village was being used by Umbrella as a warehouse - should the companny fall, they will still possess B.O.W. and viral antibodies. He continues, claiming that the owner of the house was a member of Umbrella assigned to keep an eye on the warehouse. Wesker is here to steal Umbrella's research - the "treasure". Anna offers Wesker a pendant, which he judges to contain something of interest. He finds that, like other [[Coin|Umbrella items]], it can be fasioned into a key. He tells Redfield while unlocking the safe with the key that whatever caused the outbreak must be in it. Redfield pulls Anna away just in time - the safe was booby-trapped. Anna's father knew someone would want to steal the data, and so gave the key to her, knowing that she would be forced into handing it over.
