Biohazard to the Liberty is a "light novel" written by Suien Kimura, was originally a fan novel, but was made official after being selected in a competition called BIOHAZARD Grand Novel Prize. It was released Alongside BIOHAZARD Rose Blank on March 25, 2002.. While no official English translation has been published yet, a German translation, "Resident Evil: Tödliche Freiheit" was published in 2006. The story is centrally focused on an outbreak within New York City, in a cruiser of the Umbrella Corporation, called "To the Liberty" (certanly a reference to the statue of the liberty).

Plot

A spate of murders linked to sexual assaults are occurring around the United Kingdom leading many to believe there is a copycat killer of the infamous Jack the Ripper. When U.S. Marshall Jose Lopez is called in to transfer the criminal back to the United States he believes it to be nothing more than a routine job. But the ship he is transferring on belongs to the pharmaceutical company that was involved in the mysterious events surrounding Raccoon City. The U.S. Marshall does not suspect anything out of the ordinary to be aboard 'The Liberty'. But it has already awakened and is following its genetic programming whch leads towards a single goal; perfection.

Characters

  • Jack Tramp - The protagonist, and the alleged serial killer.
  • Jose Lopez - U.S. Marshall charge of transporting Jack to the U.S. aboard of the To the Liberty.
  • Ivan Kulik - U.S. Marshall and Lopez' superior, the physical appearance of this character suggests that he has been inspired in Brian Irons.
  • The Reporter - Journalist for City Times, this reporter Jack allegedly seen committing the crime the pointing he to suspect.
  • Robert Chan - A scientist working for the Umbrella Corporation, Robert was infected with a new creation of the company and is slowly turning into a BOW.
  • Loise Kak - U.B.C.S. Captain.
  • Silvia - Silvia is a young girl who was traveling with his father, is now one of the few survivors. However, conforms story progresses and she demosntra have more involvement with this case than we imagine. This character seems to have been inspired in Lucia of the game Resident Evil Gaiden.
