Bio-Organic Weapon—An organic life form that has been turned into a weapon, usually by means of viral infection. The virus is designed not to kill the host outright, but to transform it into a creature that is suited for combat situations.

The creatures that ran amok during the leak of the T-Virus in Raccoon City in 1998 are typical of such B.O.W.s. One of the most effective B.O.W.s produced by the T-Virus was the Tyrant, which gave many Raccoon City survivors a run for their money. Its high intelligence and strength made it a focus for researchers.

Records of this are kept even with the BSAA. Below is one of those records.

The "T" in T-Virus stands for Tyrant: the ultimate human-based B.O.W.. Not only is a Tyrant incredibly strong, but it is also intelligent and capable of following orders. No other mutation may ever be capable of surpassing it.

B.O.W.（Bio Organic Weapon）とは、有機生命体兵器 、または生物兵器のことである。ウィルス等を生物に投与し、兵器として改良を加えたものをさす。

B.O.W.を生み出す代表的なウィルスとして、1998年にラクーンシティに流出した「ｔ-ウィルス」があげられる。ｔ-ウィルスが生み出したB.O.W.でもっとも優れていると言われたのが、「タイラント」である。1998年の洋館事件、同年のラクーン事件において生存者たちを妨害し続けたことで、記録にも多く残っている。

高い知能と戦闘力を有するタイラントはB.O.W.の研究者たちには興味深い研究対象で、BSAAにも記録が残っている。

「タイラントという名称は、"ｔ-ウィルス"の頭文字"ｔ"が意味するタイラント（暴君）がそのまま用いられている。人間ベースのB.O.W.としてはまさに究極形だ。圧倒的な戦闘力と、B.O.W.としては非常に高い知能を有し、ラクーン事件の際は、Ｇ-ウィルスの回収命令に従い目標を追跡し続けた。今後、あれ以上のB.O.W.はなかなか出てこないのではなかろうか...」
