Bio IV Official

Bio IV Official (バイオIV公式 (こうしき) baio IV kōshiki^?) was a Japanese iOS app which served to advertise the Japanese dub of Resident Evil: Afterlife, there titled "BIOHAZARD IV". It included an image filter feature to allow people to customise their photographs. Following a change in policy by Apple, all 32-bit apps were removed from the App Store at the end of 2017.^[1]

One of the features of the app was a poster maker that allowed users to take selfies and insert themselves into BIOHAZARD IV posteres in place of Alice.^[2] A later update was announced at the time of release which would allow more image alteration features.^[2] Another feature of the app was "BIO IV Call", which offered the phone number 0032-06-8104, which provided callers with information on the film.^[2]

A further feature for the app was "BIO Day". On 10 August, a promotional event took place at the Shibuya109 store featured in the film, and at 19:00 local time app users received a message alerting them to an outbreak in Shibuya as announced by Milla Jovovich.^[2]

Softbank Mobile users who bought their phones on 10 August at Shibuya phone stores were entered into a lottery to win tickets to the film.^[2]
