- Interestingly enough, since his red eye is the false one, his blue eye must be his real eye color. Every other infected has red eyes, so this contradicts all signs of plagas infection. There is, however, the possibility that the Dominant Species Plaga infection has different effects on its host.
- His Plagas form somewhat resembles the Los Iluminados' insignia.
- In the first part of the walkthrough included in Nintendo Power, Bitores Mendez was erroneously referred to as "Sadler." They corrected their mistake and apologized in the next issue.
- In the English dub, both Leon and Luis refer to Fr. Mendez as "the big cheese", a phrase describing someone in power. In the Japanese script, however, Luis refers to him as "boss" (ボス) and Leon, "village chief" (村長). This is an example of the changes in localisation.
