*A maximum of thirteen Blobs appeared on Veteran mode: Two in the Spencer Estate, five in the basement, four in the sewers and two "secret" Blobs. On easier difficulties, the number of Blobs drops down significantly to as low as five. One of the secret Blobs is found on a platform in the prison block and will escape from the map if not defeated quickly enough.

*The higher the difficulty that you play on, the faster that the Blobs' attacks will be. The "slam" attack will be very fast while the "swing" attack can move so quickly it is almost impossible to dodge. It is recommended that one should run past the Blob after landing a second melee attack as trying to turn around and run will almost always result in getting mauled. The grab motion will also increase in speed to where it is impossible to dodge if the animation starts up. The Blobs' attacks moved at their quickest on "Professional" Mode.

#Four in the Sewers.

#Two as secret Blobs.

*In the prison block, a Blob passed Chris and Jill from a platform above. If you could stun it at this time with Incendiary Grenades, you could reach the top floor before it escaped and defeat it. It counted as a secret Blob.

*The higher that the difficulty that you played on, the faster that the Blob's attacks would be. The "slam" attack would be insanely fast while the "swing" attack could move so quickly. It was almost impossible to dodge. The grab motion would also increase in speed to where it was impossible to dodge if the animation started up. The Blob's attacks moved at their quickest on "Professional" mode.

*This creature was sometimes referred to as "Guardian of Insanity" (Or "Keepers of Madness" or any variation), although this was a descriptive term and not a name, referring to the fact that they served as "guards" around the Spencer Estate which was a site of insanity.

 • A maximum of thirteen Blobs appeared on Veteran mode: Two in the Spencer Estate, five in the basement, four in the sewers and two "secret" Blobs. On easier difficulties, the number of Blobs drops down significantly to as low as five. One of the secret Blobs is found on a platform in the prison block and will escape from the map if not defeated quickly enough.
 • The higher the difficulty that you play on, the faster that the Blobs' attacks will be.
 • In English-language pre-release material, the Blobs were referred to as "Guardians of Insanity" or "Keepers of Madness". This was only intended as a descriptive term in Japan, but was taken as a literal name. Consequently, the Wiki will only refer to this enemy as "Blob".
