The Umbrella Corporation, abbreviated as Umbrella Co., is a private military company founded in 2007 by former staff of the original Umbrella Corporation after its previous bankruptcy.[1] It is nicknamed "Blue Umbrella" to differentiate it from the predecessor corporation.

History

Formation

After the 1998 Raccoon City Destruction Incident, Umbrella was sued for damages in a class-action lawsuit over the deaths of 100,000 people and Umbrella U.S.A., the holding company controlling business in the US was banned from trading there. Over the next several years, Umbrella's profits collapsed and its bioweapons fell into the hands of the black market and terrorists. It lost the case in 2003, and its regional companies across the world filed for bankruptcy.

In 2007, Umbrella U.S.A.'s assets were handed over to former employees of the original company as new chief executives and formed into a PMC. Its stated purpose is to atone for the crimes of the old executives and redeem Umbrella's "dark legacy" by exclusively combating bioweapons through both military ops and the development of cutting-edge anti-B.O.W. weapons, tactics, technology and treatment. The company keeps their original name so the public will always know that the company is cleaning up the mess they started.

The Dulvey incident

After the few years, the company manages to earn enough positive reputation to make the BSAA trust them in disposing bioterrorism by sending Chris Redfield to assist them during the Dulvey incident as a bioterrorist specialist. However, it is shown that Chris still does not trust them at all. The notable example of this distrust is that Chris sarcastically stated that they should hire a psychopath like Lucas Baker as future operative, when they have a chance.

The mold continued to spread throughout the swamp prompting Blue Umbrella to quarantine the area and set up walls to contain it. They also set up multiple bases in the area and prepare a cures in the event Zoe or survivors are found.

Weeks after Ethan asked them to search for Zoe, two soldiers find her calcified but still breathing. However, they are confronted by Joe Baker who mistakenly believes that they is responsible for Zoe's condition, who assaults them and takes one captive. The imprisoned soldier explains to Joe that they have a cure which Joe retrieves, but it's ineffective as it is a partial dose. So the soldier volunteers to lead him back to their base for a full dose, but he is attacked and killed by Jack Baker who takes Zoe back the mansion yard.

Umbrella forces engage Jack at the base set up there and call for reinforcements via radio, which a team lead by Chris responds to. His team arrives just as Joe has killed Jack and administers the cure to Zoe himself.

After moving everyone to a lab tent, Zoe is fully cured and Chris calls Ethan inform him of Zoe's rescue, and hands the phone to her so the two can speak.
