Last week, after beating Dark Chronicles, I began to search its archive transcriptions on the web 'cause I didn't bother to find all of them in the game. I ran into this wiki and to my surprise, it provides original Japanese texts alongside English localizations, which really helped me study these files more closely. As a gamer, I've always enjoyed reading the in-game files/archives that elaborate on the plot and general setting of the game. They usually provide insightful knowledge on game characters and background stories that cannot be learned via normal gameplay.
However, there are still many files lacking original transcription on the wiki, and I suppose only a handful of wiki editors are able to fix it. So I took it upon myself to add all the missing Japanese texts. It took me some serious searching since the Japanese transcriptions are scattered around various Japanese sites, but I managed to find and format most of them (around a whooping 150 files). Heck, I even fixed some typos, incorrect layouts and missing paragraphs of English transcriptions in the process. The only missing original Japanese texts are:
-- New files exclusive in N64 version of RE2 (I did find some of them)
-- New files exclusive in the console version of RE:Revelations
-- Two files and those item descriptions from Umbrella/Darkside Chronicles (which are fortunately immaterial storywise).
While adding the original texts, I noticed that many small details are lost during English localizations, and some of the localized texts are even misleading. Fret not, the overall localization quality is still satisfactory and does not detract from the understanding of these files.
I guess my work would not prove very useful to most (English-speaking) readers, but at least it makes the wiki one step closer to the role of a universal information hub of RE series. Plus, this is the first time I edited a public wiki page!
