The names of the chainsaw boss is Super Salvador, not Giant Chainsaw Man. And it's Dr. Salvador, not Chainsaw Man. Get the facts right.

You're just fooling yourself kid, you're closer to getting banned.
Aaaand, you're banned.
There's a lot of instances of the localization team making mistakes or even making up new material for the English script. Here's the list for RE4 - we have a list for almost every game. The problem with the localization is that these people are often freelancers hired by the studio because of their bilingual skills. Since the other developers are expected to only be Japanese speakers (otherwise a bilingual developer might be working in the localization team for extra pay), the localizer's work can't really be double checked by the writer of the original script - if he could read it, he'd be annoyed that there were so many changes to his story.
Just imagine it as a Japanese person watching the 4Kids version of Pokémon and finding that almost all of the characters' and creatures' names had been changed and that the Onigiri had been edited out and replaced with a Submarine sandwich. Or, how about a Japanese fan of Sailor Moon watching the American version and finding that the Lesbian couple had been edited heavily to be two Lesbian cousins who are deeply attracted to each other (because localization sucks at censorship).
Well, it seems like you didn't learn. At the Resident Evil Wiki we value the original Japanese script over the English localization (and that over fan terms and BradyGames names). While we haven't come to a full immersion process, we're certainly making our way through, and contributors have to come to terms with the fact that many of the things they thought they knew about the games were wrong.
To be fair, this is the Resident Evil wiki, not the Biohazard (or Beohazardo Wiki). I'll probably keep calling him Doc Salvador just because I like that better than "Chainsaw Man." Out of curiosity, what's JJ supposed to be called?
I meant personally, mind you. I'll adhere to wiki standards, of course.
"Gatling Man". Simply that.
Normally I don't comment on things on a wiki. I prefer to stay out of such debates as they generally result in someone being banned or simply don't amount to anything, but this is something I feel a need to throw my two cents in on. To start Merasmus went about this entirely wrong and in an exceptionally childish way. I personally have no issue with the Japanese names as long as the localized names are mentioned in the article (which that seems to be what the wikis doing). I mean after all this is the "Resident Evil wiki" and considering the franchise is known by the RE monacher outside of Japan the localized names should be included. I do have an issue with everyone stating that terms fans have used for years are outwright wrong. I own every RE game in exsistence and I've harboured a deep love for the franchise for more then a decade. I can understand that you don't view "Super Salvador" as anything more then a fan nickname, but fans have called the "Giant Chainsaw Man" that since RE 4 was released. I'm not asking you for much here, I'm not asking you to change the articles name, I'm simply asking from one fan to several that you include the nickname in the "further notes section" of his page. I personally think thats fair to ask of the community. I mean you all edit this wiki correct? Then surely your all fans of the franchise and have possibly used the name before. I've actively visted this wiki over the past few years and the page was called that once. I've watched it grow and change just as it is now.
Well that would be up to Fore if it adheres to wiki standards. Personally, I don't think it does. And it's not the only name I've heard him referred to actually. I've heard him referred to as "Psycho Salvador" as well (which sounds more fitting than "super" because of his erratic chainsaw swings.)
I think what the wiki's trying to do is keep fan popculture out of the wiki. It kind of taints the articles a little personally. As much as we want to, it just wouldn't look professional. I hope you understand that. It's bad enough some other RE fanbases criticize us simply because we're on wikia. It would be ten times worse if we resorted to using fan names and... fan fiction stories. If you budge for one thing.... you kinda have to budge for them all, otherwise people bitch.
If it makes you feel any better though, I've been pushing to get images of creatures that don't have proper article images in with poses I did for the models in a model posing program but they've said no to that as well and I got into an argument with Fore over the RE4 Merchant as my first RE wiki contribution. I lost both of those battles but at the same time I learned some things are more important than the fan part of RE. I'm now more into getting the facts.
Also, I suggested the Localized name thing for the bobscreen to the admins originally. Not sure if I'm the first one but I was definitely one of the ones that suggested it. We agreed that while the proper names were important, that we should at least acknowledge the localized names since, some of us are pretty nostalgic ourselves. In truth though, Giant Chainsaw Man never had a proper US name that we know of so we simply can't do this. Fan names don't count. I'm sorry. =\
why the fuck is this open again, if it opens again I'm just deleting it.
