We have so many different people out there to play with in this universe if Capcom would just use them. I was playing the Chris Redfield scenarios from Re6 the other day and thinking, aside from the godawful writing and utter stupidity (seriously, did he just call an airstrike down on himself?), the BSAA could very easily function as a sort of RAINBOW (as in Rainbow 6) unit. A game following them and the struggles such a force would face would be very interesting to me.
Jake's story is also interesting, as the life of a PMC would be drastically different in a world with viable BOWs.
Capcom just doesn't seem to want to make use of its assets, and it's a shame because they can't keep on trying to please everyone because that usually just pisses everyone off.
That was a clone, Albert Wesker was too arrogant to put something into his already perfect body.

And he'd be too arrogant to make a clone...checkmate. Also why in the hell would he make a clone? Wesker just wanted Chris dead, even if you're that kinda guy Wesker is you'd do ANYTHING to kill/hurt your worst enemy.

Agree with your "sentiments" regarding Mr. Redfield; after the death of Wesker, it's almost like Capcom doesn't know what to do with Chris anymore. As for the B.S.A.A., didn't Revelations already kind of fill that role?
Yes, and it was also fantastic (and a great return for Jill Valentine, who quite frankly deserved it after how she was treated in Re5). I'd love another game like that.
Me too, especially if we get to see why they didn't want to include her in 6; hopefully it's just because she's in recovery after what happened in 5.

Well, since Chris appear in more Resident Evil game more than anybody else (besides Leon). Perhaps now would be good time to not include him in the possible next game.
I think Jake and Sherry were added to RE6 for the purpose of "signifying the next generation" because as you know, some of the characters are getting a little old. Sure Chris is in top shape for his age, but he'll eventually get too old to serve in the field, even if he's in shape and hell, even Leon is getting old as well. I'm not saying they'll stop the battle against bioterrorism completely, but eventually they'll end up behind a desk most likely, and it will be someone else's turn to take the spotlight.
Getting back to the discussion of wesker, I don't think he'll be completely forgotten by Capcom. A character like him is almost never forgotten. Chances are, if they do anything with him in it, it will either be a minigame, such as mercenaries or some kind of prequel from one of the years before he died. (like how revelations was in 2005 instead of a later year.) Then again, with how poorly RE6 did, we may not even see a new RE game again. (even if Revelations' ports were meant to redeem it.)
I really don't want to see Jake ever again, because his story mode is so mind numbingly awful (I gave up during the "fight" with Ustanak at the end of Chapter 2 and am debating whether or not to even reinstall the game).
On the other hand, I think Chris should die in the next game he appears in, and it should be while playing as him. This is something Capcom hasn't done yet (in fact, no playable character has died *period* since the series started). It would, for one thing, be a nice way to tie Chris's story up, and it'd be shocking enough to the fanbase without killing a character everyone likes (unlike, say, Leon, Jill, or Claire). That's not to say I dislike Chris (I enjoyed playing as him again in Re5; it's just a terrible game); I just feel like, at 40+ years old, he needs to stop.
As far as Leon goes, I think it'd be interesting to see him in a support role in a future game. Put him in charge of Graham's super secret US Anti-BOW Boy Band or something.
The sad thing is, Capcom has more or less written themselves into a corner. By not introducing new main characters and aging the ones they keep using, they've more or less stagnated the series. Jake and Sherry (or Rebecca, Sheva, and Helena), could be a good direction for Capcom to look when it comes to new protagonists, but the bottom line is (and it's sad, much as I love the characters we've had all these years), they've just gotten old.
Yeah, the topic's focus has now departed from the original. I'll go ahead and close this one.
