Chinook
The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is a versatile, twin-engine, tandem rotor heavy-lift helicopter. Manufactured by Boeing in the 1960s, its largest users are the US Army and the Royal Air Force. It is capable of speeds up to 196 mph, and its primary role is troop transport, artillery emplacement and battlefield resupply. It has a wide loading ramp at the rear of the fuselage and three external-cargo hooks.
During the 1998 Raccoon City Destruction Incident, the US Army sent Chinooks into the city to evacuate civilians on September 24. One was downed north of Raccoon City when the refugees mutated into Zombies and attacked the crew. The Umbrella Corporation also possessed their own fleet of Chinooks, and made efforts to transport materials vital to their B.O.W. projects out of the city.
