Boris Frederic Cecil Tay-Natey Ofuatey-Kodjoe [1] (born 8 March 1973) better known as Boris Kodjoe, is an Austrian-born German-Ghanan actor and former fashion model who works primarily in the United States.


Kodjoe is perhaps best known for his role as courier-turned-sports agent Damon Carter on the Showtime television drama series Soul Food, and for his role as David Taylor in the film The Gospel.

He portrayed Luther West in the fourth film of the Resident Evil film series, Resident Evil: Afterlife [2][3] and reprised his role in the sequel Resident Evil: Retribution.

Personal life

Kodjoe up in Freiburg, Germany. Has a brother named Patrick, and a sister named Nadja. His mother, Ursula, is a psychologist from Germany and his father, Eric, is a physician from Ghana. Kodjoe is fluent in English, French and German. He can also speak some Spanish.

In 2002 Kodjoe was named one of the "50 Most Beautiful People in the World". He once aspired to play professional tennis until a back injury ended his career aspirations.

In June 2004 he became engaged to Soul Food co-star, Nicole Ari Parker, who he later married in Gundelfingen, Germany. In March 2005 they had a daughter, Sophie Tei Naaki Lee Kodjoe. They had a second child, Nicolas Neruda Kodjoe in October 2006.
