Brian Irons was the chief of police for the Raccoon City Police Department in 1998.
Biography
At some point prior to 1998, Irons had formerly served as the Captain of the S.T.A.R.S. Raccoon City branch, later becoming the city's Police Chief.[1] In 1994, he was implicated in a land grabbing scam, though the allegations failed to hold up in court.[2]
In response to the discovery of Anna Mitaki's body on 1 June 1998 - the seventh report of a mysterious disappearance or violent death in mere weeks- Chief Irons made a statement describing how the RPD was "working diligently to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime,"[3] and began consultation with city officials over the implementation of more drastic "protection measures" for the city.[4]
With the further disappearance of three hikers in mid-July, Chief Irons announced that S.T.A.R.S. would take part in the case in an official capacity for the remainder of the crisis.[5]
Post-Mansion Incident
On August 2, Irons was present at a press conference which revealed the true cause of the fire at the Spencer estate to have been the result of a campfire which "just got out of control". When asked if the fire was linked to the killings in the district, he responded that while there was nothing conclusive, the killings had since stopped, suggesting the killers were hiding there. The media also inquired as to his views on the council's removal of S.T.A.RS. from the investigation, to which he responded that he agreed with the council's decision, given the allegations that their helicopter crashed as a result of alcohol-induced negligence.[6]
