The Brutes (大男,ōotoko?) are an enemy introduced in the Resident Evil 4 remake. They are a subtype of the Ganado, distinguished by their larger size and masks made out of a farm animal's head.
Biology[]
Much like the other Ganado, Brutes are mutant humans created through assimilation with the Plaga parasite, granting them inhuman abilities. However, unlike regular Ganados, Brutes are physically larger and therefore far stronger and tougher in comparison.
Types[]
Hammer: The first variant encountered by Leon in the village. They are villagers wielding a large sledgehammer, with a dodgeable attack. They also wear a mask made out of the head of a bull.
Unarmed: A rare version of the Brute. They are villagers fighting with their fists and feet, also with a dodgeable attack. They also wear a mask made out of the head of a white bull.
Crossbow: A combatant Brute armed with an automatic crossbow who can fire a rapid stream of arrows, although they are required to wind it up before firing. They are first encountered on the Island. The player can shoot and break the magazine of the crossbow to force the Brute to reload. They wear a mask made out of the head of a wild boar and replace the Gatling Man of the original 2005 game.
