The PS2 edition of Resident Evil 4's Chainsaw Controller
The Chainsaw is used as a major weapon used by the ganados, most notably Dr. Salvador, the Bella Sisters and Super-Salvador in Resident Evil 4, and the Chainsaw Majini in Resident Evil 5. Often considered as the deadliest weapon in the game, and with very good reason. It's spinning blades allow for a clean cut through the body, making this a one-hit kill weapon. The Ganado/Majini will always take advantage of it's use, often going for a decapitation kill ( in the Japanese version of RE4, Dr. Salvador does a deep shoulder cut with alot of blood spatter, still a one-hit kill). The Chainsaw in Resident Evil 5 is a little different from the one in Resident Evil 4. The blade on the chainsaw seem to have thorn-shaped teeth sticking from the chain. This is quite unusual as the teeth would get easily jammed in the chain mechanism.
In the Mercenaries minigame in RE4, there is a game scenario, the waterworld scenario, out of the four you can choose when Super-Salvador comes with a double-bladed Chainsaw. He can jump to great heights and this Chainsaw can kill you much faster than normal Dr. Salvador's.
Other uses
- A modification for the knife in Resident Evil 4. The chainsaw acts like a knife and does the same damage.
