Chapter 5-1 introduces Leon S. Kennedy to a new environment; the Island, along with new enemies.
Plot[]
Leon arrives on the Island to encounter new foes, face bigger challenges, and enter the Island's Research Facility to save Ashley.
Walkthrough[]
Wharf A[]
You start off on a rocky coast on the Island. After a phone call with Saddler, and finding an Emerald, travel through a tunnel to see a group of buildings and a large search light. A short cutscene will play, showing Ashley being taken away by a Combatant. Other than the search light, the area will appear empty, but DON'T BE FOOLED. The Combatants ahead are just hiding themselves.
Shoot the search light with your pistol then move towards the left of the area to encounter Gatling Man who is wielding a minigun. A good strategy is to hide behind the broken wall and shoot at him when it's safe. He is a very strong foe, so the best way to kill him is to use the Broken Butterfly or Striker. You will face more Combatants who only come out after Gatling Man is dead. After taking care of your enemies, take the stairs up to where you saw that Combatant take Ashley. Press a button to activate a harmless laser, then move to the two mirrors in the area to adjust them correctly.
After you connect all of the mirrors together with the laser it'll unlock the door to your next path. Careful continuing on, as you will encounter more Combatants wielding crossbows.
Wharf B[]
In the next area, you will see a red explosive barrel near some rocks, shoot it to reveal a hidden room containing the Golden Lynx. Ahead you'll fight more dangerous Combatants, some armed with with crossbows and dynamite. At the top of the area, press a switch to open the door and continue forward. Ahead will be a typewriter and the Merchant. He now sells the Killer7, which ultimately is a better Magnum than the Broken Butterfly. So buy and sell anything else you need to before continuing to the research facility.
Kitchen[]
You'll come across a room full of rotting meat, and a Combatant will burst out of an oven on fire to attempt to grab you. He does twice as much damage as other Combatants, so either shoot him or simply step aside and let him die of his burn injuries.
Monitor room[]
Keep moving and fighting as you hear Ashley call for you. Downstairs are some Combatants and the Red Stone of Faith, and to a room to the side you will be see a cutscene with Ashley on the security cameras.
Armory[]
Continue into the next room to find the Merchant and another shooting range, and further on to fight two Combatants throwing dynamite at you behind a sliding door. After defeating those two, three more Combatants wielding flaming crossbows will appear. Once the group has been defeated, the door will open permanently.
Stairs hallway, operating theatre and freezer room[]
On level 1F, you can find a typewriter and a Brass Pocket Watch. Level 2F represents a hub on the map, with the player going in an out of two other rooms before leaving for the next section.
The path ahead leads to the operating room. There's a gray body on the table in the operating room, which appears dead. Solve a colorful arrow puzzle to open the security door and read Luis' Memo #3, which warns you about monsters called Regeneradores. There will also be a few dead bodies in this room, one of which is holding a keycard. After you collect the keycard, the Regenerador will awaken and begin attacking you.
Don't panic, use the Striker or a magnum and you'll be fine. Just be careful, and keep your distance. Regeneradores walk awfully slow, but are extremely dangerous. Especially if they extend their arms. Once it's dead, collect the 5,000 pesetas it drops and exit the room. There are two more Regeneradores waiting for you in the corridor, so fight them with care. Enter through the double doors ahead and continue into the freezer room, using your key card to gain access. Once inside collect any items you need, and then trade the freezer room key card for the waste disposal key card. You can now unfreeze the room, and prepare for target practice.
Sitting on a table you'll see something: an Infrared scope attachment for your rifle. Equip it quickly because what would appear to be a dead Regenerador will spring to life. Use your newly acquired Infrared scope to your advantage and take out all the leeches in the Regenerador's body.
Waste treatment plant[]
The first section of this room contains controls for a crane. You may now either take out a wave of about five Combatants conventionally, or you can do it the fun way by picking them up with the crane and dropping them down the waste disposal. Once all of those enemies are done for, keep going.
Confinement room[]
You'll be able to hear Ashley calling for help again, but the door is locked so you'll have to find something to unlock it. There'll be a door nearby that will lead you to your next destination.
Infirmary[]
Upon entering this room you'll be greeted by an all new foe, a spiky Regenerador known as the Iron Maiden. Take extra care, as its primary attack does a huge amount of damage. Use your rifle to take out the leeches on its chest as well as one on its back. Take out one of its legs to get behind it, but watch out for one of its moves where it can expel its spikes. After killing the Iron Maiden, can pick up what it was holding: the keycard to open Ashley's cell.
Pass through the door leading outside to the radio tower. The Merchant and a lift will be outside the tower. The lift takes you up to room with a cutscene where Leon calls for backup with no answer. Now return all the way to where you came from to use the key card and open Ashley's cell. A heartfelt cutscene will play showing a rather teary reunion and ending the chapter.
