(DeCandido's novelizations of the Anderson films)
Chris was from a long-line of state troopers in Carroll County, Montana and was arranged to join upon turning eighteen. While poor at writing paperwork due to his apparent dyslexia, he didn't think it important given the poor writing of other deputies. Chris had a difficult time in the profession, being singled-out by the sheriff during arguments because of an incident when Chris broke the leg of the Mayor's son.
Eventually, Chris left the service, having not worked long enough to get a decent pension. With no skills to get another job, his wife left him. He then moved to Indianapolis to get a job as a bouncer at a strip club, but was fired after complaints of sexual harassment from one of the girls. He strangled the "little whore" and ran out of town.
Moving to Montana, he was taken in by Raymond, who led a group of people ever adamant of the approaching holocaust. Because of their bunker, Chris survived the outbreak. When Raymond was killed, the survivors of the bunker roamed the United States, where they were taken in by Eddie outside Salt Lake City, where they were to trick survivors into arriving at their camp and then steal their supplies. In 2007, Alice Abernathy fell into their trap, but soon after killed the gang.
