Chris Redfield is a member of Alpha Team in the R.P.D. branch of S.T.A.R.S.. A former Air Force pilot, Chris left the service after only a short tour of duty and quickly joined S.T.A.R.S. He is a close friend of Barry Burton, and while arguably not as effective an operative as Jill Valentine, he nonetheless holds his own.
While playing as Jill, Chris is not seen almost at all throughout the game, besides the intro video and the end of the game. In the beginning, Chris disappeares once the others escape into the mansion. Chris is not heard from or of since then until, nearing the ending of the game, Jill releases him from a locked cell in which Albert Wesker has imprisoned him in.
However, if the player decides to play through Chirs's scenario, Chris will fight the horror of the mansion by himself, Jill taking his place in the cell at this point. Chris teams up wit the rookie S.T.A.R.S. member, Rebecca Chambers and fights the nightmarish creatures within the mansion and surrounding areas. Chris escapes the mansion along with Jill and Rebecca. Although in canon, th survivors are Chris, Jill, Rebecca and Barry, although Barry is shown to go missing and his wherabouts are never stated in Chris's scenario.
Chris later returns as one of the protagonists of Resident Evil Code: Veronica x, teaming up with his little sister Claire Redfield in Antarctica. Chris also survives this incident, even after an incounter with a now "super human" Wesker.
