Chris Redfield is the older brother of Claire Redfield and a police officer attached to the Raccoon Police Department's S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team. In September 1998, he was caught up in the 1998 Raccoon City Destruction Incident.

Biography

Childhood

After his parents died at a young age, Chris and his younger sister Claire, grew up at the local orphanage. During their time there, Claire became obsessed with rumors and stories about monsters that the kids would tell. Entering her teen years, Claire ran away from the both the orphanage and the city, leaving Chris alone in Raccoon City.

S.T.A.R.S recruitment

At some point in his twenties, Chris became a full-fledged officer of the Raccoon Police Department, and was trained highly enough to become a member of the Special Tactics and Rescue Service, an elite law enforcement branch, where he became close friends with his teammates and formed an attachment to fellow officer Jill Valentine.

Raccoon City Destruction Incident

In September 1998, Chris's younger sister Claire, arrived at his home in Raccoon City, where she attempted to convince him of the Umbrella Corporation's illegal experiments in the city with a videotape from fellow activist and whistleblower Ben Bertolucci, warning about the company's experiments and the leak of the T-Virus.

Later, Redfield and the rest of the S.T.A.R.S unit were called in to investigate the disappearance of their fellow Bravo team. This led Chris and the others to a wreckage in the Arklay Mountains and the nearby Spencer Mansion. Upon entering the mysterious abode, the group's captain Albert Wesker ordered the team to split up, with Chris and Richard taking the upstairs, this led him to his first of encounter with the walking dead, where Chris and Richard soon found themselves overwhelmed.

Losing his MP5 and being left to wander in the dark equipped with only his custom pistol and lighter. Over the remainder of the night, Chris would fight for his life against the mansion's zombified inhabitants, former coworkers and other abominations. Eventually, Chris would make his way into an underground lab connecting to Raccoon City, where he would reunite with his sister, Claire.
