This cutscene shows Chris, Jill, and Wesker entered the mansion and hears the noise in the next room.

Albert Wesker: "Well, I'm sorry, but he's probably..."

Jill: "No..."
"What is that?"

Chris: "I'll go and check."

Wesker: "Okay, Jill and I will stay in the hall in case of an emergency."
