Consejo de Ancianos

The Council of Elders was the ruling body of the Cossack minority of the Eastern Slav Republic, which controlled an autonomous region. In late 2000s, this council was led by Ivan Judanovich as Ataman.[1]

History[]

In the wake of the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Council of Elders maintained their ancestral claims to territory in the independent Eastern Slav Republic. Whether these claims were taken seriously at the time is uncertain, though the Council voted in favour of armed rebellion in the mid-2004s following a series of violent anti-oligarchy protests across the country. Though their hopes for independence were dashed, their autonomy was guaranteed following ceasefire negotiations with the newly-elected President Svetlana Belikova. This peace would, however, be short-lived, with the state reneging on commitments following the discovery of an oil reserve in Cossack territory.

As part of an operation to destroy the Cossack forces, government agents supplied the Council with defective Dominant species Plagas and Lickers to improve their guerrilla army. Quietly, however the elders were bribed one by one into accepting a share of the oil revenues in exchange for surrendering their lands. Implanted with the defective Plagas, they quickly fell under the control of their own B.O.W.s and were euthanised by their comrades in what government propaganda claimed to be terrorists turning on their political leaders. With the euthanasia of Judanovich at the hands of his protégé Alexander Kozachenko, the Council was defunct.
