The Crimson Head Prototype 1 (クリムゾンヘッド・プロト1 kurimuzon-heddo puroto-ichi?) was a Crimson Head zombie B.O.W. that was sealed in a coffin beneath the Spencer Mansion's cemetery.[1]

HistoryEdit

Prototype 1 was the result of human trials of the t-Virus as the Arklay Laboratory team continued into its research in the finalised viral strain dubbed Epsilon. Prototype 1's transformation into a Crimson Head was an unexpected effect of the virus re-activating within the body and triggering a second set of mutations, in a process dubbed "V-ACT". A sample of the mutant virus was extracted from Prototype 1 to serve in the continued Epsilon research, while Prototype 1 continued as a test subject to evaluate its combat performance. Ultimately, however, it was found to be too dangerous after four workers were killed when an attempt to feed it went wrong, and the lab's director decided that Prototype 1 be placed in storage. It was placed inside a coffin in the Spencer Mansion's cemetery, and became part of the facility's convoluted anti-intruder defences, wherein to gain unauthorised access to the courtyard an intruder was to free Prototype 1. Prototype 1 was finally freed in July 1998, by either Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine, who succeeded in killing it. It was not the only Crimson Head encountered that night, as the ε strain had infected a number of lab workers in May of that year.[2][3]

Prototype 1 has an HP value of 2300-5600.[3] This is in comparison to Chris' and Jill's 1400 and 960, respectively.

The most efficient weapons the player would normally posess at this point in the game are the Shotgun for Chris and the Assault Shotgun for Jill. However, this efficiency only exists if the player is directly next to Prototype 1, which is capable swerving and attacking the player if they attempt to go behind. Chris can instead use the Flash Grenade if Prototype 1 attempts to bite him.
