The Dog (Canis familiaris) is an animal that appears in Resident Evil 4 and its 2023 remake.

In Resident Evil 4 (2005), the dog was first heard whining in pain and will be seen stuck on a bear trap near the footpath heading towards the village. The player can approach the dog and press a button to help set the dog free. To free the dog, later it can be noticed how he barks at the cow after the first confrontation with Ganado villagers in the farm. Later, the dog will appear during a boss battle against El Gigante in the quarry, assisting Leon by drawing the creature's attention away and temporarily distracting it. After defeating El Gigante, the dog will disappear never to be seen again.

In Resident Evil 4 (2023), the dog was instead found outside of the Village Chief's Manor following the Bitores Méndez encounter, also stuck in a bear trap that Leon can free it from. Later, the dog will appear in the quarry, once again assisting Leon during the boss encounter against El Gigante. At some point, the dog will jump on the creature's leg, biting it before being thrown to the ground. This will cause El Gigante to become enraged and ram into the weakened stone walls, collapsing the stones on top of itself, making it vulnerable for Leon to take out the giant Plaga on its back. After successfully taking down the El Gigante, the dog can later be seen sitting on a rock at the side of the quarry. Leon will acknowledge the dog with a "Thanks, bud." should the player approach it.
