The East office (東側オフィス Higashigawa ofisu?)[1] was a room in the Raccoon Police Station's east wing, dubbed the "detective wing", as referenced in the Resident Evil Archives. This area is featured in Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil Outbreak File #2, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles and the Resident Evil 2 remake.

Description

It is the east office of the Raccoon Police Station that contains multiples boxes, copy machine, several computers, files and cases. There is also a small office in the back which contains a computer desk with some papers stacked on top. In the 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2, the small office was changed to the opposite corner it was in the original game, allowing it to have a window with a view to the front courtyard of the station.

Guide

Resident Evil 2 (1998)

Four zombies and one crawling zombie scattered throughout the room.

There is an Ink Ribbon on the small desk in the middle of the room, a pack of H. Gun Bullets on the office desk only during Leon B and Claire B, another pack on the corpse in the back hall, a Green Herb behind the office desk in the JP version, and two Green Herbs in the USA versions.

The small office at the back contain a locked safe that can be opened using the combination written in the Police memorandum file (which is "2236" in all versions except on N64 where it will be "4542"). Inside it there is the "police station map" and some ammo (Shotgun Shells for Leon and Acid Rounds for Claire).

During Leon B and Claire B, the Valve Handle is on the shelf on the east wall.

The west exit leads to the 1F lobby, the east side door goes to the Emergency stairwell, and the door in northeast corner goes to the 1F east hall, but requires the Heart Key to open.

Resident Evil Outbreak File #2

Players will start the "Desperate Times" scenario here in Normal Mode. Marvin's office is also here. He has a meeting with other officers here to escape. Kevin Ryman's desk is located in this room and can be checked for a MAGNUM HANDGUN when playing as him.

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles

Jill and Carlos come through to go to the basement.

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles

The Marvin's Memo file is in this room on one of the cluster of items on the table on the right (see the image below to see exactly where it is). When entering this room, there is a zombie on the ground playing dead, he will wake up after zombies appear from the 1F lobby. There are a total of 18 enemies in this room, all of them are zombies.

On the big table to the right side (when entering the room), there are Grenades that can be picked up. Inside the small room where the small locker is located in the original, there is a herb, Sub Machinegun ammo and more Grenades.

This room is filled with objects that can be destroyed, it will give the player a lot of Gold if all the objects are destroyed.

The next room Leon and Claire run to is the Emergency Stairwell, the 1F east hall is never visited in the game.

Resident Evil 2 (2019)

The room must be entered using the bolt cutter in the east door, since the west door is blocked from the inside. At first there is a single zombie inside, but more may enter through the windows or coming from the lobby that surrounds the office.

Besides some supply items like ammo and gunpowder, the player will find the valve handle in the small office. When playing the 1st scenario, the fuse (main hall) can be found over a table near the west door.
