The Electronic Entertainment Expo, commonly known as E3, is an annual trade show for the computer and video games industry presented by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). It is used by many video game developers to show off their upcoming games and game-related hardware.
Resident Evil at E3[]
2002's show included a trailer for the recently announced Resident Evil: Online. The trailer showed off numerous scenes of gameplay spliced with cutscene intervals. Many off the backgrounds would be cut from the finished game, with most of them being used in the 2004 expansion pack Resident Evil Outbreak File #2. The soon-to-be-released Resident Evil 0 was available for playthroughs, and showed the first parts of the game - still sharing some similarities to its E3 2000 counterpart, along with the introductory cutscene.
The 2003 show, which was held in Los Angeles between May 14 and May 16, showed the most Resident Evil games simultaneously advertised. A trailer for Resident Evil 4 was shown, which appeared differently from other iterations in development - this and the versions preceding it became known as "Biohazard 3.5". Gameplay of Resident Evil: Dead Aim was shown a mere month before its release, containing fights with Hunters and the Tyrant 091. An updated version of Resident Evil CODE:Veronica was also advertised.
At the E3 2005 show, Capcom finally presented part of their final-version of Resident Evil 4.
