Ethan W. (died 1998) was an Umbrella researcher with a Level 9 security clearance, making him one of the few people to ever know of Progenitor Virus and its secrets.
Biography[]
During the 1990s, Ethan W. worked at Umbrella's top-secret African laboratory, under the leadership of Dr. Brandon Bailey. Facility operations were limited in scale, focused entirely on researching the Sonnentreppe flowers, and the retrovirus they produce under certain conditions.
Following the 1998 Raccoon City Destruction Incident, Umbrella CEO Oswell E. Spencer, Earl Spencer became suspicious of the possibility of information leaks. Ethan W. and all other researchers at the facility were subsequently executed on Spencer's orders, and his death was verified by Dr. Albert Wesker years later during his own search for top-secret information.[1]

- Ethan W. shares a similar name with other characters in the franchise. Foremost is Ethan Winters, the protagonist of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village. The second is Ethan Wilson, an Uroboros test-subject abducted by Tricell.
