The Eurocopter AS350B is a single-engine light helicopter originally designed and manufactured in France by Aérospatiale. It is a variant of their AS350 Écureuil model, which has been in production since 1975. It is known to be an extremely reliable and versatile helicopter and has served a multitude of roles across the world since its creation, including law enforcement, fire fighting, military and civilian use.
Prime universe
An AS350B, designated "N21RA", was in the possession of the Raccoon Police Department in 1998 and was involved in evacuation efforts of Raccoon City. It crashed into the police precinct rooftop on September 29 when its pilot was hit by stray gunfire whilst attempting to rescue Officer Elliot Edward. The same AS350B appears in a picture behind Alpha and Bravo S.T.A.R.S.' teams who were photographed in front of it some time before Rebecca Chambers' induction into the unit. On October 1 of the same year, Barry Burton flew an AS350B into Raccoon City in search of fellow officer Jill Valentine, whom he succeeded in rescuing.
