"Every Mistake Has a Cost"[note 1] is a cutscene in Resident Evil 3 (2020).
Plot[]
Emerging from onto the NEST 2 helipad, Jill spots an incapacitated Carlos and rushes to assist him. Nikolai appears and disarms her, taunting her with the vaccine before destroying it on the orders of his "client", dooming Raccoon City. Carlos attacks Nikolai and gets him into a partial chokehold, urging Jill to shoot before he escapes. Though fearful of hitting Carlos, Jill fires. The shot goes through Nikolai's chest and hits Carlos in his ballistic vest, leaving only minor injury. Nikolai attempts to bargain for his life, promising his client's identity if Jill helps him escape. Instead, Jill abandons Nikolai to suffer the same fate as the rest of the city.

Jill Valentine: Oh no...
Nikolai Zinoviev: You're not going to stop me.
Nikolai: Promised you this, didn't I?
Jill: No!
Jill: Do you have any idea what you've just done?
Nikolai: Don't know. Don't care. My client ordered me to reduce Umbrella to rubble.
Announcer: Ten minutes until missile impact.
Nikolai: Ah. The missile has launched.
And that is my cue to leave.
Nikolai: Good-bye, Miss Valentine.
A shame you didn't listen to me when you had the chance.
Carlos Oliveira: Jill! Shoot him!
Jill: I can't! I'll hit you!
Carlos: Do it! You have to!
There's no other way!
Carlos: Take the shot!
Nikolai: She won't do it. Doesn't have it in her.
Jill: Carlos! No!
Nikolai: Knew you couldn't pull the trigger.
Jill: Carlos!
Carlos: Hey. I told you I couldn't
leave you in a Carlos-less world.
That would just be too cruel.

Jill: Why'd you do it?
Nikolai: There's a price tag for everything.
Even letting the world burn.
Jill: Who are you working for?
Nikolai: I'll tell you if you get me out of here.
I'll pay you whatever you want.

If I die, you'll never find out the truth.
Jill: I don't mind a little detective work.
