Face Eaters are zombie-like creatures manifested within the Fungal Root's consciousness. Their role is to test the Husks to see if they have powers like the real Rose, draining them of their life force if they come in contact with them.
Biology[]
Face Eaters appear as humanoids, albeit with slender, feature-less bodies. They have claws and teeth with which they use to kill and to eat their prey.
Gameplay[]
Face Eaters appear in the Resident Evil Village expansion Shadows of Rose. They are a recurring enemy in the game - being the first enemy the player encounters after they ambush and kill a Husk in front of them by forcibly gripping tight onto them and starting to suck the life force, leaving their face horribly disfigured and dead from the attack.
They are fairly quick which, combined with their jerky movements, allow them to quickly close the distance between themselves and the player. Once close, they will usually try to initiate a grab attack which deals significant damage or sometimes will simply swipe at Rose with their hands.
Generally, it is advised to run or avoid Face Eaters if possible as ammo is relatively scarce and it can take quite a number of shots to kill one. This is especially true later on in the game where they start to appear in groups where the player's best bet is to stun them using Rose's powers and dodge past them.
Face Eaters also reside within pools around the Castle, attempting to drag Rose down into them if she tries to pass through it. Once in these pools, the player has a limited time to move out of them before being killed regardless of their health.
