The Harrier Jump Jet, often referred to as just "Harrier" or "the Jump Jet" was a British designed military jet aircraft capable of Vertical/Short Takeoff and Landing (V/STOL) via thrust vectoring. The Harrier family was the only truly successful design of this type from the many that arose in the 1960s. The Harrier became an aircraft icon and was seen as major milestone in aviation.
In June 2013, before the bioterrorist attack in Lanshiang, China, Neo Umbrella stole a Chinese Aircraft carrier with a few Hawker Siddeley AV-8 Harrier type Jets inside. When Captain Chris Redfield's BSAA team entered the warship in pursuit of Carla Radames Along with the mysterious Ada Wong, they failed when Carla fell to her death. However, both Chris and Piers Nivans took an AV-8 Harrier Jet from the ship and used it in the hopes of stopping the vessel from attacking Lanshiang by destroying the ship's anti-aircraft guns and control tower. However, a missile with the C-Virus inside was launched from the ship and infected the city.
Chris and Piers later escaped from the destroyed carrier in the same jet.
