The Raccoon Electrical Substation, also known simply as Substation (変電所 Hendenjo?),[1] was a power plant in Raccoon City.

Description[]

The substation consists of a large plant with high voltage towers, a warehouse for employees and a control room. Inside the plant are switches that supply power in some areas of the city center, such as the subway station and its control office.

History[]

In late September 1998, during the Raccoon City Destruction Incident, the substation was maintained by some workers along with Raccoon City Electrician's Guild who stayed to turn off the plant's switches until the situation in the city was controlled.[2][3] However, until September 28, what happened at the place is contradictory, as in one account, the plant was abandoned while in another account, all the remaining employees was killed when the entire plant was invaded by an infestation of Drain Deimos. Regardless of what happened, on the night of the same day, Jill Valentine went to the substation to reactivate the plant and return power to the subway station so that she could evacuate the survivors and escape the city with the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service.[4][5]

On the morning of October 1, 1998, the substation was destroyed along with the entire city by an experimental missile carried by the United States Air Force.

Further notes[]

  • In the remake, Nemesis can chase Jill at the substation, although it is unable to enter the plant or the control room. If Jill hides in the control room, Nemesis will be waiting in the warehouse.
