The 1993-1997, or in the sequels the 1999-2012 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptors were a model of police vehicle used by the majority of the Law Enforcement in the U.S in this franchise and in reality. In the case of the Raccoon Police Department, they were introduced to Raccoon City by the undergoing the Bright Raccoon 21 modernization plan, complementing but not fully replacing the aging Chevrolet Caprice cars.

As one of many anachronisms in Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, the RPD is shown to be using updated P71s which had only just been manufactured at the time of the outbreak. Further complicating things is the use of a 1999 model for Leon and Claire to drive.
