GM 79 is a weapon in Resident Evil Village.
Location[]
It's inside a small room to the north of East Old Town that's marked as "Waterwheel Weapon" on the map. Requires the Iron Insignia Key and can only be acquired after obtaining the Four-Winged Unborn Key.
Gameplay[]
The grenade launcher takes up eight inventory spaces.
Main game[]
In the main game, the GM 79 cannot be upgraded. It can use either Explosive Rounds or Flashbangs, players can change the ammo type by pushing the aim button and interact button at the same time. Its magazine size is one by default, it must be reloaded in-between shots even if players purchase its infinite ammo at the Extra Content Shop which is acquired by simply picking up the weapon and completing the game, its infinite ammo it costs 80,000 CP to purchase.
There is one challenge tied to the GM 79, which is to "Defeat 50 enemies with the grenade launcher in the story.". It awards players with 14,000 CP for the Extra Content Shop.
Its Explosive Rounds cannot harm the player at all, and the Flashbang ammo will not stun players. The Flashbang ammo will not work on certain enemy types, in the case of a Large Lycan with a head armor, first the head armor must be shot off for the Flashbang to have an effect on the creature.
The Mercenaries[]
In The Mercenaries, the weapon changes drastically. It's only available in the hard stages (the "II" versions), and must be purchased at The Duke.
The GM 79 can now hold up to six rounds in its magazine, regardless of ammo type. It also shoots and reloads much faster.
The "no friendly fire" property remains in the mode, as such players are able to stay close to enemies and blast them away with no fear of being hurt or stunned.
