(An alternate timeline in the Prime universe)
A Desnucado (デスヌカド desunukado ) (Spanish: "Broken neck") refers to a set of mutations occurring on a Ganado after sustaining fatal injuries. It was introduced in the Resident Evil 4 remake.
Biology[]
Much like a regular Ganado, Desnucado are far more powerful and durable than a normal human, with their pain tolerance increased. If a human host takes fatal damage, a set of mutation may take place, increasing their survivability. Desnucados resemble a somewhat “incomplete” Guadańa, their noticeable trait is their eponymous broken neck which sustained an open fracture. Part of the Plaga can be seen sprouting out of the wound. Like the Guadańa, they attack Leon with a tentacle when killing him. Compared to the Guadańa, the Desnucado is more adapted to the daytime sunlight, though it can still be instantly killed with a flash grenade.
Gameplay[]
When a Ganado takes sufficient damage such as from a player's attack or falling from great heights, they will cause a set of mutations that will prevent the host from dying. Their primary attack is rushing towards the player character in an attempt to grab them. If they lose one arm, they will punch the player with their remaining arm instead.
As a mutated Ganado, Desnucados boast better resistance to staggering and walk at a faster pace, as well as causing faster damage upon grabbing the player than a default Ganado, making them a priority target. Although unlike a regular Ganado, Desnucado cannot run although they can still climb on a ladder.
The player can prevent a Ganado from transforming into a Desnucado while they're downed by using the Combat Knife or any knives.

Notes[]
Although not present in the 2005 game, its credit has shown a broken neck ganado similar to the Desnucado.
