Ghiozzo is a carnivorous fish-based B.O.W. introduced in Resident Evil: Revelations.
Description
Ghiozzos are created by directly infecting ordinary fish with the t-Abyss virus. Their appearance strongly resembles the deep-sea fish that originally carried the Abyss virus, the progenitor of the t-Abyss virus.
Because of the virus's influence, Ghiozzos had large appetites, sharp teeth, and strong jaws. A school of these ferocious B.O.W.s can eat through large mammals, bones and all, in a matter of seconds, similar to the famous (but mostly untrue) aggression of piranhas. Even worse, the Ghiozzo is now somewhat amphibious, able to move and attack on land to a certain extent - however, they are most effective in their natural aquatic environment.
History
In a video shown by Il Veltro leader Jack Norman to the BSAA, he demonstrated the frightening power of the T-Abyss Virus by injecting it into a small aquarium filled with a group of small fish. The fishes soon mutated into a flock of vicious Ghiozzos.
Later on the Queen Zenobia, Jill Valentine and Parker Luciani are investigating a casino. They found a fountain with fishes in it (the same ones experimented by Norman), and accidentally released T-Abyss virus into the fountain, immediately transforming the fishes into Ghiozzos.
Gameplay
Ghiozzos are extremely vulnerable to explosive and shock grenades, one of which can instantly kill entire groups if they are swimming close together. On land, a single shot is enough to topple the small B.O.W. over, leaving it helpless for a short time. It is highly advised to keep some distance from the Ghiozzo, as it can jump at a great distance.
Further notes
In Italian, Ghiozzo translates into Goby, an actual breed of fish.
