Giant Majini are exactly what their name suggests: enormous human beings infected with Type 3 Plagas and transformed into Majini.

Description

These individuals reacted much more positively to the Plagas than most, causing their bodies to grow until they are almost ten feet tall, with a proportional increase in strength. Equally unknown is why this has only ever been recorded in infected members of the African Ndipaya tribe. Giant Majini wear elaborate, bulletproof headdresses, making leg and back shots the best route to take when fighting them. They are armed with enormous spiked clubs made of the bones of their enemies, which they swing with tremendous force. You can tell if one is near (or distantly approaching your position) when they make an undululating, high-pitched call. Another way to know when one is approaching is the listen for the sound of the rings on their ankles jingling like bells. They, like the other members of the Ndipaya tribe, have a tremendous jumping ability, meaning they do not require ladders to get around. Giant Majini also exist as a toned-down version in The Mercenaries level Ancient Ruins. When killed, the Giant Majini will drop a Blue Enigma.

Strategy

  • About 3-5 shots of a fully upgraded magnum (how many depends on difficulty) (assuming you melee attack it when it kneels) will kill it.
  • Hand Grenades work fairly good on him.
  • Proximity Bombs are also a good idea to use on him.
  • Shoot him in the torso, back, or legs, as his head is completely bulletproof.
  • If you don't have a magnum equipped, use a shotgun or a Sniper Rifle instead. Dragunov work fairly enough even without an upgrade.
  • You should try and keep as far away as possible from him, as he has many attacks that will heavily damage you.
  • 1 shot of a magnum will kneel him, this will allow you to perform a melee attack.
  • 1 shot of a rocket launcher will kill him instantly.
  • Avoid using Handguns or Machine Guns, as they only deal minimal damage (with the exception of the M93R and AK-74).
  • A fully upgraded S&W M500 Magnum will kill him in two shots.
  • Three shots from a fully upgraded H&K PSG-1 should take him easily.

Attacks

The Giant Majini will use a variety of attacks to deal menacing damage to the player, and occasionally other Majini.

  • Club Smash - The Giant Majini rears back, and slams on the ground, dealing tremendous damage.
  • Kick - The Giant Majini will do a short minimal damage kick, sending the player flying.
  • Stomp - Giant Majini lifts his foot up, and slams on the ground; it appears to be just another animation for the kick attack.
  • Lunge - The Giant Majini will let out an ululating war cry, anybody surrounding him will be thrown back during this, and runs and lunges several feet forward, slamming the player or any other Majini in the vicinity to the ground, dealing major damage.
  • Club Swing - The Giant Majini will swing back and forth twice, damaging the player and killing all Majini around him. He will usually do this after a lunge attack. This attack is identical to the The Executioner axe swing.

Attack Prompts

  • Block - The Giant Majini will cross his arms and slide backward, allowing an opening to perform Uppercut for Chris Redfield, Somersault for Sheva Alomar, Sweep Kick for Jill Valentine, and Tiger Uppercut for Albert Wesker.
  • Kneel - The Giant Majini will drop to his knees. You will be prompted to Hook for Chris Redfield, Twist Kick for Sheva Alomar, Roundhouse for Jill Valentine, and Panther Fang for Albert Wesker. He will do this when shot on the lower part of his body with any weapon.
  • Recovering from Melee - He will do this only after being attacked from another melee while he is in Kneel state, and the player will be prompted perform Haymaker for Chris Redfield, Spinning Back Kick for Sheva Alomar, Cartwheel Kick for Jill Valentine, Ghost Butterfly for Albert Wesker, and Disco Spin for Excella Gionne.

Trivia

  • Like all sub-bosses in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, the Giant Majini has two variants, left-handed and right-handed. Most likely to help with defeating them in story mode (e.g. remembering which one has been damaged more)
  • The mutation that overtakes a Giant Majini may be a variant or early stage of the same mutation that results in the creation of the Ndesu and El Gigante.
