Gilliam was a resident of Gadiwell, working as Mylene Beardsley's butler and the head of the Beardsley's servants.[1]

Biography[]

While many believed the handsome blonde haired man was merely the Beardsley's head butler Gilliam was in fact a member of the Umbrella corporation's Administrative Division Special Affairs Section Two. He was tasked to serve Lady Beardsley in her attempts to develop a Neo-t Virus and B.O.W.s until she either succeeded or he could get ahold of a copy of her computerized genetic recombination program and a digitized copy of all her knowledge. This task however would prove to be quite irritating to the man as the countess while brilliant was quite unstable and tended to mistreat her underlings including Gilliam. During this time he was regularly spotted traveling in a white limo to speak to a film crew which in fact was a group of disguised Umbrella mercenaries tasked with suppressing any viral outbreaks on the island. After discovering Norse Chirac and Rain Rubens on the Beardsley family's property Gilliam had them sent away and went to inform his mistress. Mylene then angrily berated the man blaming the current situation they were in on his failure to resolve issues on the island sooner. Later under Mylene's orders Gilliam invited Norse and Rain to a dinner party being held that night for important VIPs from companies allied to Umbrella which they reluctantly accepted. When they arrived at the party Gilliam ushered them into the castle and seated them. When Norse left to investigate the castle, Gilliam proceeded under Mylene's orders to kidnap Rain in an attempt to lure Norse into a trap. The plan backfired though as in his attempt to escape Mylene's trap Norse set off a failsafe installed by the castle's founders which saw to the destruction of Umbrella's island facility. Fed up with Mylene's incompetence Gilliam used a special computer program to directly contact the Umbrella executive board who promptly fired Mylene and ordered Gilliam to leave the island after he contained the situation and secured the data they needed. Gilliam then left with some turncoat researchers to confront Mylene in her lab where he revealed her being fired as well as his true mission before destroying the control device for her ultimate B.O.W Mylenia. Gilliam then left Mylene to her death and attempted to escape with the researchers and the data in a helicopter. Before that could happen however Norse and Rain managed to climb into the craft and during the ensuing struggle for control the helicopter crashed into a mountain destroying the data and leaving Rain, Norse, and Gilliam as the only survivors. A wounded Gilliam eventually tracked the others to a pier nearby where they were struggling against some zombies who were blocking their path to an escape boat. Gilliam killed the zombies with his revolver telling the stunned pair that he had only saved them as he wanted to take revenge by killing them himself. At that moment though Mylenia unexpectedly appeared baffling Gilliam as he thought he had destroyed her control device earlier. In actuality he had in fact done so but the Countess had used a cybernetic uplink to copy her memories and personality into Mylenia at the moment of death essentially resurrecting herself in the creature's body. Before anyone could respond to this development Mylenia lashed out with her claws killing Gilliam whose gun was later used by Norse to severely wound the creature.

Further notes[]

In the light novel Gilliam is stated to use a 6-inch .45 caliber Colt King Cobra revolver in combat. While there is in fact a real life Colt revolver by that name the King Cobra has never been issued in that caliber only being made in .357 magnum and .38 special. More than likely the author made a mistake when trying to make a reference to Resident Evil game protagonist Barry Burton whose magnum revolver, the Silver Serpent, was based on the real life Colt Anaconda. The Anaconda was a large caliber handgun made by scaling up a King Cobra to accept larger rounds such as the .44 magnum and .45 caliber and then combining it with a ventilated barrel taken from the Colt Python.
