A Handgun is a firearm capable of being wielded single-handed. It is one of the most basic weapons in the Resident Evil series, and is often the very first weapon the player has access to alongside the knife.
Handguns in the Resident Evil series come in many shapes and forms, but are almost always loaded with 9mm Parabellum rounds. Handgun ammunition is common in the main series; but inifinite handgun ammo is present in most of the Rail Shooter type games like The Darkside Chronicles.
The standard firearm of the S.T.A.R.S. Team is the 9mm Beretta 92F, which may or may not have been customized into the Samurai Edge variant depending on the game being played.
An expert Resident Evil player might use only handguns to complete the games; knowing these firearms offer high accuracy, firing control, and plentiful ammo.
