This prototype version of the Hunter has a different method of attack when it comes to the finishing move. Rather than its relatives, who are known for decapitating their prey, the "γ" will instead attempt to swallow live humans, whole. They are known to use their hands to grab people and force them into their mouths, head first. The "γ" can also simply tilt downward to face-level and perform the same attack without the need of arms.

Further notes

This prototype version of the Hunter has a different method of attack when it comes to the finishing move. Rather than its relatives, who are known for decapitating their prey, the "γ" will instead attempt to swallow live humans, whole. They are known to use their hands to grab people and force them into their mouths, head first. The "γ" can also simply tilt downward to face-level and perform the same attack without the need of arms.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis[]

The Hunter γ only appears in certain portions of Raccoon City in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Two can be found in the Raccoon General Hospital's basement, where they escape from storage tanks. Another two can possibly appear in the Raccoon Park, though four zombies may appear in that area, instead.

Moveset[]

The following moveset chart is based on information from BIOHAZARD 3 LAST ESCAPE OFFICIAL GUIDEBOOK COMPLETE CONQUEST OF NEMESIS.[1]

Attack Damage
Claw (ツメ tsume?) 15
Claw jump (跳びツメ Tobi tsume?) 25

Claw thrust (ツメ突き Tsume tsuki?)

15
Swallow (丸のみ marunomi?) Instant Death

Resident Evil Outbreak[]

Moveset[]

Attack EASY NORMAL HARD VERY HARD
Jump Hit Attack (+ Drop) 100-150 300-350 300-350 400-450
Dry Land Strike 60-90 90-120 100-130 150-180
Grab and Bite 250-280 400-440 450-480 500-540

While on land, it has a chance to do an instant death attack which consists on grabbing a character, and struggle with them in order to eat them. This can be avoided with having high health and struggling, or Shooting it (most of the times crying for help will do) while its strulling with an AI victim.

Resident Evil 3 (2020)[]

The Hunter γ are encountered in the Sewers section and the Underground Storage area in the Resident Evil 3 remake. Their only attack is to charge forward, projecting mandibles from their mouths in an attempt to swallow the player character. If successful, the player is instantly killed as their bones are crushed on their way into the Hunter's mouth.

Their skin is highly resistant to conventional firearms, but their exposed mandibles are vulnerable. Using a flame rounds-equipped MGL Grenade Launcher is the easiest way to counter them, as their amphibious nature makes them very susceptible to burning to death. On higher difficulties (Hardcore and above), a flame round often isn't sufficient to kill them in one shot; however, it will damage them to the point where a few bullets/shells to the mandibles will finish the job. Alternatively, the player can set them aflame and attempt to move past them while they flail around in agony; this can be difficult, however, as the Hunter γ is usually encountered in narrow areas.

Outside of flame rounds, the Hunter γ is vulnerable to leg damage. Targeting the legs will cause it to collapse for a few seconds, giving ample time for a getaway. However, due to the size and posture of the creature's upper body, targeting the legs can make for awkward shooting. Performing a successful dodge counter with the knife will guarantee a knockdown on the Hunter Gamma, allowing the player to run past them. Another thing to note is that they can still attack the player through a door, although they can't get through due to their enormous size.

Resident Evil Re:Verse[]

The Hunter γ is a playable B.O.W. in Resident Evil Re:Verse, it is based on its Resident Evil 3 (2020) iteration. In order to play as the Hunter, players need to obtain one Virus Capsule at most and die, at which point the Hunter will have a 50% chance of being played.

Its two skills are "Devour" and "Acid Spray", the first can be used to eat enemy (human) players if they are at a critical condition, while Acid Spray will make the Hunter spit acid in front of it which deals damage upon contact to others.
