These Hunters can easily be killed with just two shots from Kevin'scustom handgun, and can be killed by one point-blank shotgun blast. Later in the End of the Road scenario, the Tyrant R will dispose of any remaining Hunter R. However, harder difficulties and network play increases the overal health of the Hunter, leading to extra attrition, and, at times, more instant kills.
This Hunter model can use an instant death attack when it's low on health against players. It will start to growl in one place and then will slash the player's torso, killing him or her instantly even if the victim was full in health. Mark's guard ability cannot protect from the attack, same goes for turning away as the attack can also kill from behind.
Death can be avoided if the blow from the Hunter shoves the player character through an open door or a portal to another area. In this case, after the area loads in, the character won't die but they'll be at 0 health and will be downed.
The instant death attack mostly triggers on survivors on lower health, and while the Hunter can lead into a kill, it could also kill another person despite the health and position. Collateral damage can also get people killed, and not all survivors have an effective way to dodge.
